This innovative, socially-conscious art project has become a world-wide phenomenon, bringing together the creative and the public spirited to create a truly unique and engaging experience.

Originally conceived in New York in 1992, Canstruction aims to serve those in need while uniting the design and building community. The Pendulum Gallery is the centre of the Vancouver component of Canstruction, hosting over a dozen sculptures. Two other sites; The Four Season’s Hotel, 791 West Georgia and the Pacific Centre Rotunda, corner of Georgia and Howe, comprise the exhibition sites for 2013, and are all in easy walking distance of each other.

In its 11th year of competition, Canstruction Vancouver continues to serve as an artistic event and a critical 'food and fun'-raiser Canstruction Vancouver has raised over 1.15 million cans of food in the last 10 years and 100% of the cans raised are donated to help assist those in need in our community. This year they hope to push the total to 1.2 Million Cans.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society provides food and related assistance to over 25,000 people each week, and over 8,000 of these clients are children. The organization serves Burnaby, New Westminster, Vancouver and the North Shore and relies solely on the generosity of individuals and organizations willing to donate funds, food and time. www.foodbank.bc.ca
