Carl White continues his exploration into the world of mythology and the stories that we tell and re-tell over generations. His new body of work is a contemporary interpretation of classical subject matter – portraiture, floral, and animal themes, re-imagined. Referencing stories like the Odyssey and the Greek legend of Prometheus, “Digging For Fire” is a search for meaning in the everyday objects that surround us.
Carl White was born in Liverpool, England in 1969, and studied painting, drawing and graphic design at the Alberta College of Art & Design in Calgary. Known for his contemporary take on classical subjects and techniques, White’s work has been featured in many solo and group exhibitions across Canada for over twenty years, and can be found in numerous private collections both nationally and internationally.
