CHANCES DANCES // INTERSITE 2015
The Texas Lounge 308 b 17 ave sw, Calgary, Alberta
November 6, 9:00pm - 11:00pm
Chances Dances brings its dynamic mix of queer club music from classic disco and house to global bass to Calgary for the very first time. All Chances events recognize the power of consent, the radical potential of the body in movement, and welcome all gender expressions.
Chances Dances is a collective of queer artists, activists and DJs based in Chicago, IL. Since its founding in 2005, Chances has sought to create safer spaces for all gender expressions, bringing together the varied LGBTIQ communities of Chicago through performance, outreach, and WERQ. In 2008, the organizers of Chances created the Critical Fierceness Grant, which uses the proceeds from monthly dance parties and other events to fund projects by local artists and artist collectives who identify themselves or their work as queer.
Presented as part of Intersite Visual Arts Festival 2015.
