In this exhibition children are both subject matter and a mechanism for exploring questions on identity, philosophy, memory and social institutions. The works show us imaginative beings asking big, existential questions, who long for ideas, who challenge and ignore boundaries, and who are able to communicate (just by being children) the absurdities of certain social structures. At the same time the works reveal adult anxieties, fears and suppositions.
Six artists from six countries challenge our preconceptions and disrupt assumed or sentimental narratives. Instead the works offer poignant possibilities and suggest future consequences. This exhibition encourages us to reflect broadly on the human condition, its capacities, frailties and its future.
