Chinese Cultural Centre Museum & Archives 555 Columbia St, Vancouver, British Columbia V6A 4H5
The Chinese Cultural Centre Museum (CCCM) at 555 Columbia St., Vancouver, in collaboration with the Hanfu Culture Society of Vancouver, is proud to present the Chinese Hanfu and Culture Exhibition from June 20 to July 14, 2012.
The exhibition features a collection of Chinese period dress, ranging from the Qin Dynasty to the Ming Dynasty. Hanfu has gained great momentum as a movement in China in the recent years, especially amongst the younger generation. The principles behind the design of Han dress draw heavily from important Chinese ideologies. The wearer is expected to be honest, unbiased, and well mannered. Although wearing Hanfu has long been synonymous with the archaic and even foreign, it has been recently rediscovered as a potent symbol and cultural dress for the Han ethnic group. This project aims to promote ethnic Han culture and dress in Vancouver. Special activities will be held on selected days:
