Originating from the folklore of The Weaver Girl and the Cowherd (Niu Lang & Zhi Nv), this festival is also regarded as a minor Valentine’s Day among the young people. This festival is meant to replicate the QiXi’s historical traditions with every mini event detailing its ancient traditions as close as possible. The festival is divided into two parts: Part One is “Romance”, where the female and male participants wearing Hanfu converse with one another to determine which partner is the best “fit”; Part Two is “Games and Missions”, where the newly formed couples participate in mini events that resemble the ancient Qixi tradtions. The goal of this festival is to allow the young participants and our spectators better understand the history and traditions of QiXi.
