acrylic on canvas, 54" x 48"
Opening Reception: Saturday, January 11, 1-4 pm
This exhibition features a colourful collection of contemporary and historic works from Madrona's stable of artists. These works are brought together by their bold use of colour, form, and composition. The exhibition follows the evolution of colour from the early 20th century up until today. From traditional oils used in works from the likes of A.Y. Jackson, to the invention of acrylic paints in the 50's and 60's, up until the vibrant pigments used today, Colour Theory traces changes in technique and materials throughout the years.
Featured artists include: Meghan Hildebrand, April Ponsford, Halin de Repentigny, Hashim Hannoon, Morley Myers, Sean Yelland, Nicotye Samayualie, William Perehudoff, Jack Shadbolt, and many others.
