"The Other Side Has Been Shown"
Jason McLean, "The Other Side Has Been Shown," 2011, black ink, acrylic and coloured felt pen on wove paper.
This exhibition brings together an impressive selection of recently acquired works by 25 Canadian and international artists. They employ diverse media to express physical or intangible experiences, and document the world in both its vastness and minutiae. The artists push the boundaries of the medium, mixing autobiography with illusion, myth and the fantastical, ultimately rendering the mundane extraordinary. The artists include U of S art professor Alison Norlen, and Luanne Martineau, a former Saskatonian now living in Montreal. Curated by Rhiannon Vogl of the National Gallery of Canada.
