In Conversation: Cosmos

Glenbow looks skyward with the launch of the exhibition Cosmos: Gathie Falk, Margaret Nazon and Erik Olson. Join retired Canadian astronaut Dr. Robert Thirsk and exhibition artists Margaret Nazon and Erik Olson in conversation with exhibition curator Mary-Beth Laviolette about the enduring mysteries of space.

The mysteries of the universe come to life in celestial studies by three fascinating contemporary artists. Calgary-born Erik Olson’s sumptuous planetary paintings render our near-space neighbours in vivid, textural oils; veteran Canadian artist Gathie Falk’s heavenly bodies are poetic, expressionist depictions of the sun, moon and stars; and Margaret Nazon of Tsiigehtchic, N.W.T. interprets images from the Hubble space telescope using traditional beadwork techniques – with sublime results.
