DETAILS

Brian Batista's DIVINE INSPIRATION stems from an exploration of historical Vedic deities. His paintings represent psychological aspects of the human condition and with them he seeks to convey spiritual and philosophical teachings. Full of life, with bright arresting colours that play on the senses, the works elicit a visceral response. They feature an abundance of detail that draws the eye in, inviting the viewer to piece together the painting's meaning like solving a jigsaw puzzle. Batista aims to create art that transcends mere representation and reaches instead towards a mystical experience.

BIO

BATISTA is based in Calgary, Alberta and holds a BFA with Distinction from the Alberta College of Art and Design. He was part of the exhibition 7 BY 7: RISING TALENTS at Stride (2009) and his first solo exhibition Sacred Images was held at the Untitled Arts Society Gallery (2011).
