Dona Park: Face To Face
Dona Park is a Korean-Canadian artist based in Abbotsford, BC, whose work draws on her cultural heritage and personal identity, while also celebrating the strength of young people, women, and nature. This exhibition features paintings that mark the artist’s journey to highlight her own hyphenated Asian-Canadian identity, emphasizing her Korean heritage and the intersection of cultures. Park’s paintings often combine Korean mythology and images recognizable from western art history in order to challenge the Eurocentric narrative and its gaze, while creating agency for herself and other Asian artists to tell their own stories.
