Double Opening Reception

Please join us for a double reception celebrating our two new exhibitions:

A Scanner Ubiquity - Kevin Day and Nathan McNinch

Ever wondered where all the personal information that we feed into the Internet ends up? So do Vancouver artists Nathan McNinch and Kevin Day. Their exhibition, A Scanner Ubiquity, collates samples of seemingly useless but readily available public information and turns it into works of art.

Using kinetic sculptures throughout the gallery, their works examine, in various ways, everyday information and the use of that data in common applications. A participatory installation piece takes the form of several machines that retrieve physiological information (such as height and density) from the nearby audience; in real time, the data is then continuously printed on paper, creating something similar to a polygraph using the gathered information.

As Composed by Poets and Liars - Kelsie Balehowsky and Lucas Glenn Co.(Members' Gallery)

As Composed by Poets and Liars is an exhibition of collaborative prints created by two recent UBCO graduates, artists Kelsie Balehowsky and Lucas Glenn Co. The series, incorporating Kelsie's photography and the Company's typography, explores the emotional, rhetorical, and personal connections that music can have with an audience. Just under ten images, varying in intensity and subject matter, refer to their own interpretive processes and at the same time express conundrums of personal truth and authorship. Exhibition on show from January 30 to February 21.
