This course will explore formal drawing skills using line, space, volume, balance, proportion, texture, colour, value, scale, and perspective. Students will provide their own visual material -- from their own photographs, found objects, or other collections.

Students will practice, explore, discover and experiment in the studio -- and be supported by many interactive hands-on demonstrations! Our small class size and intimate studio setting ensures one-on-one interactions, informal critiques, and feedback.

Michael Culverwell M.A. is an designer and instructor with an extensive background in design. He has exhibited and sold his work in Germany, Finland, Japan, UK, Switzerland, USA and Canada; and has taught design, drawing and related subject matter, at both undergraduate and graduate level, at Universities and colleges across Canada and the UK. He currently teaches at Emily Carr University of Art and Design.
