Opening May 1, 2022
Mónica Reyes Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of “Dreams and Reflections” a group show including works by Jason McLean, Tiko Kerr, Kriss Munsya, Montserrat Duran Muntadas and Trinidad Barros. The exhibition brings together works that reflect - whether they are physically reflecting their own materiality, conceptually reflecting on the past or reflecting and mirroring our own images as we step forward to get a closer look. By engaging with multiple layers of reflections, we create relationships between the artworks and ourselves, between ourselves and the space and between ourselves and the dialogue the included artists are evoking.
We become part of an intersecting community centering the experience of art, which carries the weight of our past, finds lightness in our present and opens up possibilities and dreams for a community-oriented future. As a newcomer to the Mackenzie Heights neighbourhood, Mónica Reyes Gallery reflects on the physical and conceptual space the gallery occupies in Vancouver, with hopes of becoming a community hub where engaging through art can encourage dreams for our collective future.
