Bau-Xi Vancouver is thrilled to present Poetry of Place, the very highly anticipated new exhibition from established BC painter Drew Burnham. Well-known for his unique, hyperrealist portrayal of British Columbia's coastal landscapes, Burnham employs his immense skill, deeply intuitive process and immediately recognizable visual vocabulary of vivid colour, stylized form, and glazed lines to make his paintings leap to life - they seem to pulse with an inherent rhythm, and reverberate with the energy of the landscapes themselves. Each painting takes months to complete, and is replete with astounding detail rarely seen in paintings of our current times. This new collection of five paintings is the culmination of two years of the artist's work.
With an ever-increasing demand for his work, Burnham has experienced sold-out shows for over ten years. His new exhibition Poetry of Place sold out in 5 minutes.
Burnham trained with Don Jarvis and Toni Onley, and studied architectural rendering as well as Fine Art at the Vancouver School of Art (now Emily Carr University of Art+Design) and at the University of Victoria. Burnham continues to live and paint out of his home and studio in North Vancouver, British Columbia.
