Self-taught mixed media artist, Joanne MacDonald has based her practice in Calgary, Alberta for almost 25 years. Inspired by the delicate balance of nature and relationships MacDonald works almost exclusively with found, natural and recycled elements. She approaches art-making intuitively, as she cuts, grinds, assembles, and welds raw materials.
MacDonald’s latest solo exhibition ECHOES features sculpture inspired by revisiting, past artworks, materials, shapes, scale, and repetition, among other themes. These ongoing reverberations have collided in a new body of artwork as she attempts to find resolution around concepts that continue to resound with her to this day.
ECHOES, will be on exhibit from September 16th - October 8th, 2016.
