Students from the lower mainland high schools will be featuring their artwork at a student run exhibition being held at the Art @Bentall Gallery this May. ‘Equity, Diversity and Equality (EDI) To Me’ is the latest project of the Collingwood Business Organization, a youth business club at Collingwood School, in partnership with the Vancouver Visual Art Foundation (VVAF).
The student-lead team organizing the exhibit is facilitated by Sylvia Lau, a teacher who wanted to offer a more creative business learning experience for her students. This collaboration offers something unique for art lovers in Vancouver, the chance to see a new generation of young artists share their ideas and styles.
High school students from all over the lower mainland will have the opportunity to submit their artwork on what equity, diversity and inclusion means to them – three ideals that have become the foundation for this exhibit. The artist can interpret these ideals in a message that can be either positive or controversial.
By choosing to work with VVAF, the Collingwood team of students will learn what it takes to market and curate an art exhibition. The team hopes this project will help shed light on the social issues facing our society today in the eyes of the next generation.
