An exhibition following the Micro-residency with SPiLL.PROpagation in the Studio of La Maison des artistes visuels francophones!
Three franco-manitoban artists participated in a micro-residency to create space for meaningful encounters in a context of exchange that has a focus on the deconstruction of phonocentrism (the belief that sounds and speech are inherently superior to, or more primary than, written language or sign language) in the arts. Under the mentorship of multidisciplinary deaf artist Tiphaine Girault of SPiLL.PROpagation, join us for a moment of inspiration, creation and meeting point between deaf and hearing artists.
In residency from March 4 to 6 in the Studio of La Maison, Alexis Auréoline, Shawna Culleton and James Culleton received mentorship around their artistic project. The three artists will bring their research and creation work with the intention of exhibiting the most recent developments in the space of The Studio from March 14 to April 6, 2024.
