Each person is on a private, independent journey. A story of personal victory. Fahri Aldin’s solo exhibition, Standing Alone Together, asks how we coexist as parts of a group or family, who ultimately bear our own private, deeply personal epics.
Aldin paints companionship and comfort onto his canvases, contrasted against his bronze figures who stand solidly apart on their individual epic. Cast in bronze astride a faithful steed, the sculptural works elevate the protagonist, as they ride into the next chapter of their crusade. His paintings tell a different story. Looking back across his decades of experience as a professional artist, Aldin continually revisits a subject: groups of people enjoying food, music, and good company.
Investigating this dichotomy between the artist’s themes, the current exhibition encourages us to reflect on our individual challenges versus the power we share when assembled as a group.
