Mike Dendy, "Found While Walking," Acrylic, 30x36.
Mike Dendy is a contemporary acrylic landscape artist currently residing in St. Albert. After retiring from a career of teaching art, Mike has recently begun a new career as a full-time artist. His paintings invite the viewer to see beyond the reality and experience the elemental things which make that object as it appears to be. Using simple lines, shapes, colours, values and textures, Mike transforms "ordinary" subject matter he may have discovered while on an afternoon stroll with his wife into an idea that can attract and hold the viewer's attention. Describing his works as "non-objective", Mike is encouraged when people stand before his work and look into it a little longer than they might normally at ordinary objective reality.
