Not only did the Making Pictures exhibition at TrépanierBaer open to resounding praise, but all copies of Fred Herzog: Modern Color were sold at the opening.
If you missed out on obtaining a book, the gallery is in receipt of additional copies that are now available for purchase.
Published by Hatje Cantz, Berlin, Fred Herzog: Modern Color is the most comprehensive monograph to date of the now-eighty-six-year-old photographer. It unites more than 230 of the most important photographs, including a selection of rare black & white images. Essays by David Campany, Hans-Michael Koetzle, and Jeff Wall expand the visual world with art historical information. Its content and design have garnered the publication a spot in the top ten photo books of 2016 compiled by The New York Times.
A selection of photographs by Fred Herzog - many them premiering to Calgary audiences for the first time - are on view now as part of Making Pictures: Vikky Alexander, IAIN BAXTER&, Fred Herzog, Geoffrey James & Danny Singer for the Exposure Photography Festival 2017.
