“From Prairie to Shield” is intended to bring two generations together in a compilation of works spanning close to 40 years. For this show Edythe Holden, now in her mid 80’s, has put together a retrospect of her earlier and most recent paintings. Her unique style includes numerous scenes from the Canadian Shield. Karen Holden, Edythe’s daughter lives and paints on the Prairie. Her oil paintings are often larger in format. Nature is her inspiration from intimate prairie coolies to the rocky northern shores.
This exhibit is intended to indicate a mother-daughter connection and what influences occur as well as and event to encourage all ages to visit the gallery to view the work of two women, two generations. The artwork of Edythe Holden and her daughter Karen Holden will be on display in the Portage and District Arts Centre gallery until October 13. McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel locally sponsors this exhibition.
