The following exhibition "FULL CIRCLE 2" is presented by the Fort Gallery at 9048 Glover Road, Fort Langley.

The Fort Gallery is proud to be hosting the Alumni artists in a special exhibition, “FULL CIRCLE 2”.

The Artist’s collective was formed in 2005 by a group of emerging artists who lived and worked in this heritage township, with a mission to encourage and support individual development and exploration in contemporary art.

The gallery is housed in the 1911 “Coronation Block”, a heritage building at Glover Road and Francis Avenue, with a distinctive curved, raised front parapet. It is a gathering place for contemporary practicing artists, providing a synergy that encourages artists to seek their best contemporary edge. In doing so, the gallery helped launch many careers in the visual arts as artists mentored each other in mounting exhibitions, providing critiques and sharing their creative process. Over the years, the Fort Gallery has connected with the community, including the annual Blue Plate Special Gala, plein air painting during local festivals, and First Thursday events. The gallery has also hosted book launches and poetry readings of local artists.

Over 50 artists have belonged at one time or another coming from as far as Hope, Chilliwack, Tsawwassen, Vancouver, Port Coquitlam, Burnaby and Maple Ridge, bringing new artists to the community and spreading the renown of the gallery to the Lower Mainland.

The gallery has evolved over the past 11 years as artists came and went and came back again, as is occurring again this year, bringing the artists full circle. Often experimental, the artists seek to engage the public in current issues in contemporary and thought-provoking image making. There are always about 20 artists “holding the fort” each year.

This exhibition features six of the alumni artists: SCOTT GORDON, LUCY ADAMS, JUDY NYGREN, DORTHE EISENHARDT, JUDY JONES, RICHARD FORBES.
