Germaine Arnaktauyok
We are delighted to present a trove of limited edition prints by esteemed artist, Germaine Arnaktauyok. In 2021, Arnaktauyok was a recipient of the Governor General's Award in Visual Arts, one of the most prestigious distinctions for visual arts excellence in Canada. The current collection includes etching and aquatint prints that date back as far as 1999 and includes some of Germaine's most iconic imagery. Many of the prints depict Inuit myths and stories such as the Moon Spirit, a hunter giving the seal a last drink of water, or how Thunder and Lightning came into being.
The gallery held a solo exhibition of Germaine's prints and original drawings in 2008 and we have long been admirers of her artwork, so we are thrilled to share this collection of prints with you.
