"Lovely Fruit Blossoms"
Glen Semple, "Lovely Fruit Blossoms," acrylic on board, 48" x 36".
Glen Semple was born in 1960 in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. He grew up to study at Red Deer College and then the University of Calgary from which he graduated in 1984 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Undaunted by detail, the Calgary based artist presents resplendent images suffused with light and surreal colour, light-hearted and wonderfully contrasting textures, and dream-like and captivating compositions - visual masterpieces.
"My images are intended to be playful, positive statements about the people, objects, and environment that surround me. They are paintings about ordinary things and our relationship with them, as well as the appearances and qualities of the objects and their interactions with one another. My paintings explore the visual interaction of colours, light, shapes, and textures and the controlled application of colour and paint. In the end, I hope my work will create a feeling, mood, and pattern that demonstrates a unique and positive vision of our world and the joy and excitement that I experience painting". - Glen Semple
