“I have spent the past 53 years trying to make functional pottery that has warmth and life. The greatest compliment that anyone can give me is to use my pottery and feel an emotional attachment in its use.” - Sam Uhlick
Sam Uhlick, born in Edmonton, Alberta, studied at the Banff Centre and Nova Scotia College of Art and Design in 1972, and apprenticed with Michael Cardew in England in 1977. Sam moved to Ardrossan, Alberta in 1996 to establish his studio, blending his own clay and building his own kilns and equipment. With reverence to material Sam continues a legacy of renowned studio potters, refining and elevating everyday objects that enhance our daily rituals.
A pillar in the Alberta ceramic scene for over five decades, Glorious Mud celebrates potter Sam Uhlick’s notable career.
