Margaret Hantiuk: Shoreline Sojourn
After many years of working and raising a family, I finally have reengaged my art practice.
Having earned a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) from UVic and ACAD (Alberta College of Art and Design) years ago, I have been attending painting and drawing courses at VISA (Vancouver Island School of Art) the last few years.
I am primarily an oil painter in my studio but also work on paper, drawing and painting with multi media. I also paint outdoors ‘plein air’ with water colours where I camp in the summer.
After a few years in studios with artist collectives I now work out of my Fernwood home studio, where I have lived for many years.
Being a keen outdoors person I walk daily, often documenting the excursions with my iPhone wherever I go. These images are often the starting point for my paintings. I am also a passionate gardener, my love of nature reflected in my landscape paintings.
