Hazel Litzgus was born and raised in Loydminster, Alberta. Among this self-taught artist's best-loved paintings are the scenes of her prairie childhood. These paintings of small town life, of farm work and play, are constructed from memory with careful attention to details. Litzgus' art is in many private and public collections and has been shown in galleries across Canada including the Glenbow Museum and the National Gallery. One of her paintings was presented to HRH Queen Elizabeth by the City of Calgary. (Source: Scholastic.com)
