Their collective interpretation of wildlife, nature, and their personal interactions with these subjects will create a visual display like no other. We invite you and your friends to join us for the afternoon to spend time with these talented artists!
As Canada House Gallery artists Michael Cameron, Susie Cipolla, and Nikol Haskova progress in their artistic journeys, they all transmute their life experiences with animals into visual stories.
Susie Cipolla enjoys brief chance meetings with domestic animals and wildlife that pass through on her rural property. Rural living provides her with solitude and space to comprise original portraits of bears, deer, moose alongside the cows and pigs and other domesticated animals that live on nearby farms.
Michael Cameron’s awareness of human interactions with wild creatures in the Rocky Mountains is forefront in his paintings. Wolves are a personal favourite of this artist and he seeks to bring attention and understanding to their “living conditions” in the Bow Valley. Individually or in a pack, wolves are this artists’ metaphor for community.
Nikol Haskova has fascination with birds as messengers and storytellers and photographs them regularly to use as reference in her studio. She conveys the lightness of spirit and distinct personalities of each avian creature she encounters in her detailed depictions.
Each painter has a deep sensitivity toward these subjects. Independent in their art practices, combined they are unparalleled in their understanding of animals and our connection to them.
