On Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 7:00 PM, the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitobawill host a reception occasioned by two exhibitions, i {heart} Brandon in the Community Gallery, andNothing Smells in Absolute Zero in the Main Gallery. The latter was coordinated by the AGSM’s newcurator, Lucie Lederhendler, and marks the first curatorial project of her new role.
'i {heart} Brandon' results from an open call from the AGSM and Brandon Tourism. It is a collection by our community that shows, through art, what we love about Brandon. The exhibition will take place in our Community Gallery, and four individuals will receive $500 prizes in the categories of Youth, Teen, Adult, and Audience Choice.
The Jurors
Four active community members will serve as judges for three categories, and the entire Westman community will select the one winner by ballot at the Gallery.
Megumi Masaki
A multidisciplinary artist, Megumi Masaki shares her passion for music with Brandon University students and the community through compelling projects. Her empathic personality and appreciation of beauty and nature are inspirational to us all!
Karen Chrest
An authentic communicator and bon-vivant, Karen brings spirit and camaraderie to all of her relationships. She is a lover of the arts, a committed member of the Westman community, and is always willing to share wonderful stories with those around her!
James and Angela Chambers
Owners of local bakery and eatery 'Chez Angela', James and Angela Chambers approach their culinary craft as skilful artisans. Like the exhibitions at the AGSM, they create aesthetic experiences, proving the undeniable strength of the relationship between art and food.
