Gallery 295 is pleased to present IcarusCar, a colloborative project between Keith Doyle and Evann Siebens. Mark Mizgala continues in our Lightbox Project Space with his new work Momento.
Inspired by Molt Taylor’s 1949 Aerocar One and the Greek myth of Icarus, IcarusCar is an installation incorporating photography, video, sculpture and a full-size1969 MGB-GT. Shifting between fiction and document this project follows the artists as they and their characters work at creating their own version of the flying car. The performers set out to test their flying car only to have it break down repeatedly on the side of the Alberta freeway. Reality sets in. It’s hard to make a car fly when it won’t drive.
