Alberta College of Art + Design’s Fibre Student Create Exceptional Silk Screen Yardages Inspired By The Beauty of Alberta For Exhibition at ATB’s Art Vault Gallery
The Alberta College of Art + Design (ACAD) and ATB Financial are pleased to announce the latest exhibition resulting from their partnership titled Intertwined.
Intertwined features the work of ACAD Fibre students from the School of Craft + Emerging Media. The class was invited to create works inspired by Alberta and exhibited at ATB's ArtVault Gallery. The emerging artists exploring various disciplines, combined their interest in surface design and silkscreen printing on fabric, and crafted 13 inspiring pieces of fibre work from the following nine artists:
- Sophia Lengle
- Jasmine Whiteley-Steel
- Eva Birhanu
- Emelyne Smith
- Kali Edwards
- Selina Martineua
- Zonglu Zhu
- Alana Larsen
- Monika Strozyk
The students took a school assignment to the next level and expressed a great interest in the project. The yardages created in the process reveal diverse perspectives and offer personal commentary on nature, urban and rural life, economy and culture in Alberta.
"ACAD is always looking for opportunities to collaborate with exciting Alberta organizations, like ATB, that celebrate creativity and innovation," said ACAD President + CEO Dr. Daniel Doz. "ATB has called Alberta a masterpiece and the students were inspired by the beauty and diversity of the province. We are grateful for ATB Financial. Their support has opened up the door for our students and alumni to display their amazing works in an inclusive gallery setting to a brand new audience.”
Intertwined is free and open to the public from Monday, February 12 until Friday, June 15, 2018, at ATB Stephen Avenue (102 8 Ave SW, Calgary, Alberta) during regular branch hours (Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.)
