In partnership with VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation, South Main Gallery is proud to host Living on the Grid, a fundraised exhibit by artist Jane Adams.
"This group of paintings is an ongoing series of abstract acrylics that emerged suddenly after a move into the heart of the city. Living on the Grid, the hood represents the sounds of inner-city density, the night rattle of bottle collectors and their trolley carts, car horns, sirens, traffic patterns, abstract distant beeps, and general noise.
The nighttime breaking of the international flights descending over the harbour and the general rumble that interferes with the daily thought processes. The urban nightmare at times! The patterns depict the city, tall buildings, construction cranes, the surrounding sea, the bridges, the call of the crows and gulls, sunrise and sunset over the harbour and the cacophony of all the that occurs in the living city."
