“A prairie light” is an exhibition of new paintings by Jim Stokes, an artist of longstanding partnership with Scott Gallery. A constant in his practice, the landscape paintings of rolling parkland, shelter belts, and vertiginous sky are exemplary of both place and painting. The surfaces of these works are brushy and loose and they breathe with the esprit of our short summers.
