High art meets deep roots as an Order of Canada-winning sculptor and his Juno-nominated musician son present one of the most unique Canadian concert tours in recent history – a combination concert and visual art show all rolled into one. Joe Fafard has created some of the most recognizable public art in the country, including the Running Horses that stand outside the National Gallery of Canada. He is a recipient of the Order of Canada, the Saskatchewan Order of Merit, and the Medal in Allied Arts from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. The younger Fafard is an uncommonly-skilled stage entertainer who has earned a Juno nomination, a Western Canadian Music Award, and several other honours for his roots music -- which is marked by a rare combination of guitar wizardry and emotional nuance. Together, father and son straddle the worlds of independent music and visual art, of grassroots and “high society.” And yet, their respective works, both born out of the barren prairie landscape, seem as natural a compliment to one another as the father and son themselves. Don’t miss this incredible showcase of two generations of artistic talent.
