Jola Liebzeit, "Keys to Success," 2018
acrylic, 12" x 16"
Opening Reception: December 7 at 7-10pm
The works within this exhibition are about journey and challenges that lead to transformation. Inspired by cinematic instrumental music and the “follow your bliss” philosophic writings of literature professor Joseph Campbell, I take myself on an artistic journey through memories of people, places and events, past, present and future, that have influenced my artistic and personal life journey. While I use a variety of materials and dimensions in some of pieces, my focus on creating abstract paintings is the aesthetic branch that unites the works.
“Opportunities to find deeper powers within ourselves come when life seems most challenging.” ~ Joseph Campbell
Campbell’s “Hero Journey” narrates my story as I travel, as if in a forest, through his journey stages that lead to ultimate gifts, rewards, completed abstract creations. This show asks the question, if hardships lead to resilience and strength would you cross that threshold into the unfamiliar and new? Could our best selves be up to a single decision to seize a fleeting growth opportunity? Until my next artistic adventure, may these pieces inspire you to find and create your bliss; your inner opulence.
