The majority of the works in this exhibition were painted over the summer and fall of 2015 at my “rustic” studio in rural Saskatchewan. An old church built in the late 1940s, the studio offers a space, removed from the world, that is an ideal place to loose myself in the work. The summer of 2015 was a particularly focused and immersive experience. The paintings came in a burst of activity and were made using a fresco-like approach – trowling wet bright colour into a wet grey undercoat of thick paint. I enjoyed the way the paint went down, the gradient blend from the top brighter colour talking to the base tonal paint and the colour’s movement up and down the chromatic scale, all played off against an undulating ground washed with colour. Opening Reception: Thursday, May 26 from 7 -9 pm Artist in attendance
