Kaitlyn Roberts is a Lower Mainland-based interdisciplinary artist intent on creating an empathetic dialogue surrounding the vulnerability and isolation of mental illness. Roberts’ work is informed by both the past and present experiences of women who experience mental illness, drawing from the historical mistreatment of women within the psychiatric discipline. Her practice brings forth vulnerable subjects, such as the experience of dealing with panic attacks and suicidal ideation. Rather than confining these subjects within hushed tones and classified medical records, Roberts magnifies them with sensitivity and honesty.
