The exhibition is mounted by Mountain Galleries at Jasper Park Lodge.
"Karel Doruyter began the “Genocide Series” in 2004. Initially it was the annual visits to Haida Gwaai and seeing the rapidly deteriorating totems that influenced the start of this series. Each painting reflected some part of what was seen or felt viewing these scenes many times. The paintings gradually changed and became a personal internal process, as well as a chronological sequence of man's inhumanity to man; "Meditations on the human Spirit." The Exhibition carries you from dark to light and leaves you with a message of hope, peace and a true understanding of sanctuary.”
“Jasper has a long and interesting history with Haida Gwaii; it seems fitting that we should host this exhibition."
