Kathy Mann: "Water Paths"

Esplanade Art Gallery 401 First Street SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta T1A 8W2
“The origins of Water Paths began years ago when I was a child, with my annual spring pilgrimage through the deep snow and underbrush of a wooded creek bank in search of gurgling water peeking through the ice and snow. Every year, homeward bound, soaking wet, boots full of ice water, I was content… the creek was running!
"During the busy years raising my family I read all the art books available to me, took workshops, and eventually began painting in earnest. To this day, waterways continue to fascinate me. The challenge of capturing the serenity of water, its movement, reflections, changes in lighting, and sculpting of the land grew into the series of paintings, Water Paths. The paintings in oil and pastel are glimpses during walks or plein air painting… now preferably while staying dry and warm.” - Kathy Mann
