Artist's Bio
Longtime contributor to artist-run culture in Canada, Kegan McFadden has cultivated a research-based approach to art production which mines language through queer affect while employing modest means of production. Working from an interdisciplinary practice, McFadden has created exhibitions using printmaking, photography, installation, and text. His projects have investigated his own relationships to personal and public queer histories using memory and its faults as a focal point. In 2020 a 15-year survey of Kegan's printer matter, Partners in Crime, was produced by HOTAM Press Book/Shop (Vancouver, B.C.). Last year his touring exhibition, Exuberant Intimacy, was reconstituted and augmented for Deluge Contemporary Art (Victoria, B.C.) under the title, A Separate Peace & other bouquets, while his solo exhibition, So Long -Charlie Brown-, was later presented at arc.hive artist-run centre with an accompanying publication.
