Keith Dalgleish: A Portrait of Birds
It is nearly impossible to offer an adequate portrayal of a bird. They are exceptional in so many ways. With that in mind, Keith hopes to create paintings that impart a glimmer of their extraordinary character and brilliance. Using a full range of color, dramatic play of light, loose bold brush strokes and impactful compositions, he merges into the world of birds.
Each portrait is intended to elevate the significance of birds. Much like what is experienced in their natural habitat, Keith strives for a pictorial style that balances both order and chaos. It’s amazing to be in the company of birds and he believes that in some way we all understand this experience.
The inspiration for creating these pictures was greatly influenced by the time Keith spent in the country. Living for over a decade on an acreage-farm southwest of Nanton, on the edge of Alberta’s Porcupine Hills, three things stood out for him: horses, cattle, and birds. As an artist and someone deeply connected to nature, birds have become his wise teachers.
