Tom Powell Design, "Language of Detail," 2022
Language of Detail is the work of Winnipeg artists Takashi Iwasaki, Christine Kirouac, and Paul Robles. The mediums with which they work vary greatly: acrylic paint on canvas, embroidery thread on fabric, coloured pencil on paper, and origami paper cut by hand. What they have in common, however, is a beauty that is both contemplative and cathartic. The work is done slowly… Very slowly. Each pencil stroke, knife cut, and embroidery stitch is individually and precisely executed. As we look at the work, we are totally absorbed in the detail. We can reflect on the complexities of the work and think about the passing of time, life, and relationships.
