The foundation of Larissa Tiggelers’ artistic practice is the ‘push and pull’ of spatial perspective. The shapes within her paintings fall in and out of the canvas depending on where the viewers’ eye sits when presented with the work. Over the months of March and April, with a final presentation of the work in May, Tiggelers will focus on translating these concepts into three-dimensional form. As she works, the Ledge Gallery will be accessible to the public, offering anyone a chance to observe or learn more about her process.
Larissa Tiggelers was presented as part of the 2013 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art. She is a long-standing Calgary-based artist and the Director of The Stride Art Gallery Association.
Artist reception in Upper Centre Court at Arts Commons on Thursday, May 14 from 5 - 8 pm.
