Lessons from a Living World brings together five artists whose art practices centre on their relationships, responsibilities, and hope for the Earth.
Artists Cherry Archer, q̓ʷati̓ca / Phyllis Atkins, Clyde Richard Brittain, Shawna Davis, and Zuzana Vasko have differing connections with the environment, yet all share a deep awareness of the living world around them.
Through mediums of beadwork, installation, photography, painting, and printmaking, the artworks in this exhibition muse on the beauty of nature with a stark reminder of humanity’s dependence on these ecosystems.
In a time of ongoing ecological crisis, the exhibited artists suggest that lessons they’ve learned from the land have revealed information on how to better take care of it, and ourselves.
