Contemporary artist Deborah Philipp will open a spring exhibition of her new painting series “Liquid Motion” at the Wendel Gallery in April 2016 located on Vancouver’s Granville Island. She will also exhibit new paintings in May at Art Vancouver, Western Canada’s International art fare at the Vancouver Convention Center.
“Liquid Motion” is a new series of vibrant abstract paintings that exude a cool, ocean sensibility of motion and energy created by Philipp as she explores new approaches to applying paint to the canvas often opting for a free form technique that involves layers of poured color that mix and flow across the canvas. The work delivers a freshness that captures the spontaneity of motion and suspension in the underwater world.
Deborah was born in Chicago and studied painting at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome. After graduating she settled in San Francisco, embracing the Bay Area art scene. For the next thirty years she continued painting and exhibiting her work that is now in many private and corporate collections.
After more than three decades she and her husband left the Bay Area and settled into a new home and studio located on a lakeshore on Vancouver Island where she continues to work today.
