Curated by Elise Pundyk & Grace Wirzba, Museum Studies Interns
As the second part of the U of L Art Gallery’s projects for the University of Lethbridge’s 50th anniversary, senior undergraduate students will curate an exhibition of works from the U of L Art Collection. The U of L was founded in 1967 as part of the celebrations for 100 years of Canadian Confederation. With this exhibition in 2017, the student curators will reflect on this connection and address the University’s 50 year history and Canada’s 150 year history while also selecting works which invite viewers to think about the future of the campus and the country.
Statement:
The gallery is home to an extensive collection that has and continues to be a source of inspiration for many. Exploring the community that has evolved with the gallery, this exhibition will bring together work from the collection with stories from the people that have made the gallery what it is today.
