Meet and Greet on Saturday, April 20, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Mao Guolixuan came to Canada from Nanjing, China in 2014 to study fine arts. In Canada, away from family and friends, feeling homesick, and dealing with language barriers, she felt lost and unsure about her identity. The artwork in this exhibition represents her emotions and memories during this time, on her journey to self-discovery. Her works are composed of watercolour, acrylic, oil painting, and ceramics. Each artwork is a fusion of Eastern culture with Western material. Mao employs Chinese ink and wash in an impressionistic way and records the artistic impression of different cultural experience.
