CKG will also be showcasing a small but mightly new series from Calgary-based artist Marcia Harris. Referencing her past work as a self-reflective part of her creative practice, the title Echo signifies a repetition of images and ideas that are influence by previous paintings or series. There almost always is subtle hint towards nostalgia in her work - that of a universally understood sense of past but also as a significant part of her own visual catalogue as a creative. Documentation plays a role as well - for example in her depiction of Luke’s Drug Store in both past and present. This new body of work pushes it that much further with Marcia now also showing us inside the space. Harri’s virtuoso handling of colour never disappoints with its shift from neon underpainting to her often quirky (yet perfect) tonal captures of specific times of the day.
