In Austin Clay Willis' "Material Affair," a series of artworks investigate the tension between the illusory power of a painting and the material nature of its existence. Paintings which subvert their own abstract spaces through texture, tactility, drips, and lines hang in unconventional ways throughout the gallery. "Material Affair" offers an exploration of visual elements through their tangible material qualities.
